Woohoo! In your face, C.S. Lewis!!

Cool list! And take THAT, Garth Nix ;-)

If bookstore owners knew how much authors hung out to see stuff like this they'd post a whole lot more of it. Not me, of course. I'm no google junkie link whore, and I wouldn't know one if I found them in the top ten search results for 'me me me'

Anyway, off to blog about it and spread the word of mouth about Fantastic Planet...

Cheers
Simon Haynes

Ouch! A pin prick . . . where did that come from?

Now that my minions have brought this to my attention, it is clear that Forbidden Planet has somehow escaped the mind control programs I initiated many years ago. Revel while you can, Mr Spacejock -- things will be different soon . . .

Garth

Re: Ouch! A pin prick . . . where did that come from?

I'd have picked on CS Lewis but I thought the chances of him replying were even more remote :-)

Alas, my own rather short-range mind control program isn't working in the other 2999 bookstores across Australia. And even if it was, the Disreputable Dog would chew Spacejock's Mookou boots clean off.

Higher than Trudi Canavan? Where are our 7 figure deals?

We're too cool for seven figure book deals.

Unfortunately, these figures may not accurately represent worldwide sales... but I'm still very happy to have beaten Robert Jordan!

Unfortunately? Nah - it's good to see a list that represents localised sales. It's much easier to find lists that represent broader areas.

Way to go, Stephen!

It's worth noting the presence of authors on this list who have attended recent WA cons (hint, hint).

Too right, and it should be written into their contracts.

'Thou shalt appear at Swancon or else.'

Hey - I can afford to go to Swancon at last!

(I so can't get used to this.)

I got given a seven figure deal once, but I was 10 it was trade of some Masters of the Universe for some GI Joes.

Okay, I made that up.

Sorry, no.

Gosh ding-dang darn it, what's up with that??? I've been telling everyone that Fantastic Planet is the place to go to get my book, but instead they've been buying it at Myer and Big W. Has the universe gone mad? Are we living in Bizarro World?

Hmm, far too many deserving authors on the low end of the list, and sadly the reverse is also true. I'll have to work harder to rectify that. =)
